FISHING FUN FACTS
How to Estimate the Weight of Your Fish:
Measure your fish from the tip of its nose
to the tip of its tail for the length.
Measure around the thickest part of the
midsection for the girth.
Formula for fat bodied fish like bass, salmon, etc.
is length x girth x girth divided by 800.
For slender fish like trout or northern pike is
length x girth x girth divided by 900.
So a 30” Northern w/ a 15” girth is approx. 7.5lbs
The fish should be biting when the wind is from the west rather than the north or east but not too windy. Also, the better times are shortly after sunrise and shortly before sunset.
